PHPA is a high–molecular-weight anionic polymer used in water-based drilling fluids for encapsulation of drill cuttings, shale stabilization, viscosity building, and fluid loss control. It provides excellent inhibition characteristics in fresh water, brine, and KCl polymer mud systems.
