Calcium Carbonate

Calcium Carbonate Powder is a finely ground, acid-soluble weighting and bridging agent used in water-based, oil-based, and synthetic drilling fluid systems. It is widely applied for controlling fluid loss, building filter cakes, bridging fractures, and improving wellbore stability in a variety of drilling conditions.

Calcium Carbonate is available in fine, medium, and coarse particle sizes, which allows engineers to tailor it for specific bridging applications such as sealing micro-fractures, permeable zones, and highly porous formations. The graded particle size distribution helps form a tight, low-permeability barrier that prevents filtrate invasion and stabilizes weak or unconsolidated formations.

As a weighting material, Calcium Carbonate increases mud density without excessively affecting rheology. Unlike barite, it provides smoother density adjustment and causes minimal sagging in the mud column. This makes it particularly useful in drilling operations that require precise density control, cleaner mud properties, and minimal solid build-up.
